The Venetian Effect

Renaissance Music by visitors to Venice

Minchinhampton Parish Church

Saturday, 2 July 2011 at 7.30 p.m.

Accompanied by a prestigious ensemble of cornetts and sackbuts, led by Adrian Woodward, The Cappella Singers, directed by Philip Colls, performed an unusual programme featuring music by foreign composers who worked in Venice: Willaert, de Rore, Lukačić, Skjavetić, Lassus, Hassler and Schütz.
The native Venetians Andrea and Giovanni Gabrieli were represented, too.

This was an opportunity to hear music by some of the finest Renaissance composers sung by The Cappella Singers, one of Gloucestershire’s premier chamber choirs, together with specialist wind players.
