Minchinhampton is one of 43 places
where altars were dedicated in 1315. To mark this 700th
anniversary we performed music from 1315, 1415, 1515 and so
on, ending with a
setting of Jubilate Deo, which we had commissioned from Stephen Gowland (left).
Instruments appropriate to each period were featured,
including cornetts, natural trumpets, sackbuts, bagpipe,
percussion and modern brass instruments, led by Adrian Woodward,
Musical Director of Shakespeare’s Globe on the South Bank.
Sanctus from the Worcester Fragments
the Agincourt Song
music from the Eton Choirbook
works by Byrd and Weelkes
music for the Royal Fireworks
works by Parry and Vaughan Williams.
