We performed motets by Spanish composers Guerrero,
Lobo, Robledo and Victoria; the Creed from Byrd's Mass for
Four Voices; and a heartfelt motet for double choir by Philippe de
Monte, Super flumina Babylonis.
Also Drop, drop, slow tears, with
Gibbons's sublime music; and the original version of Tallis's Canon, God graunt wyth grace.
The programme was completed with Palestrina's famous
double choir Stabat Mater
and a fascinating setting by Josquin of Agnus Dei from his Mass based on L'homme armé.
