For this year's special Christmas concert,
Philip Colls has selected music from the 16th and 17th
centuries, from various European cities.
Sweelinck's most famous motet, Hodie Christus natus est, begins
the programme.We have music by Peter Philips, who worked in
Magnus Thomsen, who worked at the Danish royal court
Heinrich Schütz of Dresden; and our own William
Byrd in London.
Then there is music from
Munich, Prague, Tours,
The instrumental pieces will be played by cornetts and sackbuts, with
natural trumpets, organ and percussion, led by Adrian Woodward, Musical Director
at Shakespeare's Globe. This promises to be another thrilling
