A
sequence of sacred pieces by Renaissance composers associated with Northwest
Europe We
are privileged to sing in the magnificently frescoed private chapel of the
Beauchamp Community. Most of our chosen composers travelled abroad. Some –
Josquin, Lassus and Willaert – are well known. Others too wrote music of high
quality, among them Peter Philips, who fled England to avoid religious
persecution. Our programme includes the
Gloria from Lassus’s mass
Ad Imitationem Vinum Bonum and his
Cantate Domino; Willaert’s
Sancte Paule Apostole; and Philips’s
anthem for double choir Ecce Vicit Leo. |
